The Patron Saint of Sinners

Though it looks finished, it isn’t entirely done yet. Work in progress, I guess… After my comic was so blatantly rejected, I decided to go back to the drawing board and revamp one of my old characters… Utterly. He’s unrecognizable now from his original version, I take it…

Let me ask you a question. What do you get when you take a devil in a business suit, a British aristocrat, an exorcising saint, a gun-savvy huntsman, and a coffin-toting vampire, and spin them all into one character smack-dab in a fantasy setting with dragons, demons, elves, and the like?

You get the Hunter. The new-and-improved Hunter. The Fell Marksman. The Three-eyed Emperor of Gunners. The Patron Saint of Sinners.

Yes, Kitty, I did listen to your advice. No more pointy head. Happy?

No… one rifle wasn’t enough for this newly-improved Hunter. The Last of the Revenants had to have more firepower. So I gave him more firepower. The weapon set Saligia expanded on the Hunter’s original arsenal; he now carries seven guns of varying craft which he uses to hunt the demons that created his race. Fitting, since each weapon in the Saligia (an acronym, BTW) corresponds to one of the seven deadly sins: Superbia (pride) and Ira (wrath) are pictured here. The other five weapons are safely stowed away in his attaché case.

Yes, that attaché case is shaped like a coffin. I wanted a vampiric businessman-aristocrat, so it was only natural the attaché case follow suit. The inscription on the case is a nice little play on an old nursery rhyme, and it reads “Here comes a candle to light you to bed… Here comes a marksman to mark off your head.” Fitting, ‘cept you don’t know what the ‘candle’ is. As I said, work in progress…
